Welcome to the multi award-winning Robert O’Connor Woodworking, featured on RTÉ Nationwide and two-time winner of the prestigious RDS National Craft Competition. Robert founded his workshop to showcase his innovative craftsmanship and unique handcrafted pieces, which are available in-store in Gorey or delivered to your door through our online shop. Sustainability lies at the heart of every product we design and make.
Robert is the master craftsman and creative force behind each piece. Alongside him, his wife Mary manages digital and social media, making our business very much a family-run enterprise.
Robert began his career by completing his apprenticeship in timber at a young age, developing the skills that would lead him to become an internationally recognised name in luxury woodworking. For many years, he created bespoke kitchens and unique interiors for clients across Ireland and worldwide.
In 2010, Robert expanded his business by opening the gift shop in Gorey and began sharing his expertise through project-based woodworking and woodturning courses. The gift shop continues his passion for beautiful craftsmanship—offering one-off, handcrafted gifts that can be personalised and delivered anywhere.
Robert’s love of instrument making developed first through training with the renowned Irish flute maker Hammy Hamilton, where he learned the traditional craft of wooden flute construction. This inspired Robert to continue his musical instrument journey, later travelling to Washington, USA, to apprentice with a master harp maker. Today, Robert handcrafts traditional Irish flutes and 34-string Celtic harps using premium hardwoods and sterling silver fittings—bringing decades of woodworking expertise into every instrument.
From unique gifts to bespoke instruments, everything Robert creates is an expression of quality, tradition, and world-class craftsmanship.
All our deliveries is done by An Post which is very reliable. Once a parcel is collected from us it is delivered in Ireland within 24 hours.
Woodturning Courses
Robert also runs Woodturning Courses for all levels, from beginners to master craft level. These courses are very popular for all age groups as it enables learners to make a project and bring it home.

Location
The Woodturning Studio is located in Gorey, Co Wexford, which is an hours from Dublin, just 3 minutes off the M11 motorway and within walking distance from national train and bus stations. It is minutes away from the boutique boulevard of Esmonde Street, restaurants and miles of sandy beaches and a range of top class golf courses.
